For more information: Click here Gislason & Hunter Congratulates It’s Rising Stars- November 29, 2006 The law firm of Gislason & Hunter LLP is please to announce that Kathleen Loucks, Sarah MacGillis, Angela Nelson, Christopher Rosengren and Justin Weinberg have been selected as “Minnesota Rising Stars 2007” by Minnesota Law & Politics. Kathleen Loucks and Angela Nelson focus their practices in the areas of insurance defense, insurance coverage and medical malpractice defense. Sarah MacGillis’ practice is focused on criminal matters, appeals and medical malpractice. Christopher Rosengren practices in the areas of civil litigation and criminal defense. Justin Weinberg practices in the areas of commercial and civil litigation, construction law, real estate, and banking. Candidates for the “Rising Stars” honor are nominated through a survey of attorneys who were selected as “Minnesota Super Lawyers” who have observed the lawyers in practice and through a candidate search. Those nominated are then further reviewed by evaluating indicators such as experience, honors and awards, and community service and professional activity. Congratulations, “Rising Stars”!
The law firm of Gislason & Hunter LLP is please to announce the addition of three associates to the firm. Tonya A. Oetken has joined the firm’s Des Moines, Iowa office where she will focus on workers’ compensation and insurance defense. Tonya graduated with honors from Drake Law School in Des Moines and is admitted to practice in Iowa and Nebraska as well as the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa. Prior to joining the firm, Tonya practiced in Des Moines and Sioux City, Iowa. Justin P. Short has joined the firm’s Minneapolis office. Justin is a 2006 cum laude graduate of William Mitchell College. He will practice in the firm’s insurance defense, construction defect litigation, corporate and business law and workers’ compensation areas. Bridget L. Bailey will focus on agricultural law, bankruptcy, environmental law and civil litigation practicing out of the firm’s New Ulm office. Bridget is a 2006 graduate of Drake University Law School where she earned a certificate of Food and Agricultural Law and was the Executive Editor of the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law.
We are pleased to welcome Lynn M. Schmidt as an associate in the Minneapolis office. A 2004 cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, Lynn comes to the firm after a two-year judicial clerkship for the Honorable Terry C. Hallenbeck of the Sixth Judicial District in Duluth, Minnesota. Lynn will practice in the areas of civil litigation, insurance defense, medical malpractice and construction defect litigation.

The MSBA Civil Trial Certification Board is pleased to announce certification of Dustan J. Cross as a Civil Trial Specialist. Mr. Cross joins 327 other attorneys who are current MSBA Board Certified Trial Specialists. Under Rule 7.4 of the Professional Responsibility Rules, attorneys who have been certified as specialists by an agency accredited by the Minnesota Board of Legal Certification may call themselves "specialists" without use of a disclaimer.
